У оквиру семинара Лабораторије за биомиметику, у среду, 26. августа 2026. године у 12 часова у читаоници библиотеке „Др Драган Поповић“, др Јасмина Новаковић (Certara, Simcyp Division, Канада) одржаће предавање:

PBPK Modeling: Principles and Applications in Drug Development

САЖЕТАК:

In this lecture, Dr. Novaković will introduce the fundamental principles of physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling and discuss its applications in modern drug development.

PBPK models integrate information about the physicochemical and pharmacokinetic properties of biologically active molecules with mathematical descriptions of human physiology to simulate and predict drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination.

This approach is closely related to the emerging concept of digital twins in biomedicine. By creating computational representations of biological systems, simulations can be used to explore and predict how
biologically active molecules behave in the human body under different physiological conditions, including variability between individuals and populations. Such in silico approaches can complement experimental and clinical studies and increasingly contribute to decision-making throughout the drug-development process.

The lecture will provide an opportunity to learn about a rapidly developing field at the intersection of physics, computational modeling, mathematics, biology, pharmacology, and medicine, and to discuss how
computational simulations and digital-twin approaches can contribute to predicting the behavior of biologically active molecules.
