Modeling adaptivity in real-world dynamical systems

САЖЕТАК:

A widespread feature of natural and artificial complex systems is their adaptivity. Dynamical networks with adaptive couplings appear in various real-world systems such as power grids, social, and neural networks, and they form the backbone of many control strategies and machine learning algorithms. There is a lively interest in modeling real-world adaptive systems as well as pushing forward the boundaries of feedback control and artificial learning. In this talk, we will introduce different modeling approaches for adaptive systems and shed light on the emergence of adaptivity-induced phenomena. We will show how the interplay of adaptation and a complex network structure gives rise to the existence of countless intriguing synchronization patterns such as chimera, solitary, bump, or frequency-cluster states and discuss their possible real-world implications.
