Treatment of Micropollutants Using Hydrodynamic Cavitation and Cold Atmospheric Plasma
САЖЕТАК:
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are highly persistent contaminants that pose significant environmental and public health challenges. Conventional treatment technologies primarily rely on adsorption or membrane separation processes, which remove PFAS from water but generate concentrated waste streams that require further treatment or disposal. This seminar will present ongoing research on PFAS degradation at the Clean Water Technology Lab (CLEWATEC), Helmholtz Innovation Lab, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), Germany. The presentation will focus on the HyKaPro and Plasma4PFAS projects, funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR)
and the Saxon Ministry of Economic Affairs. These projects investigate hydrodynamic cavitation and cold plasma-based technologies for the degradation and defluorination of PFAS in water. Recent advances in
reactor development, process performance, and applications for industrial wastewater treatment will be discussed.
