The notion of singularity in general relativity
САЖЕТАК:
We give a review of the formal notion of singularity in general relativity, whose development resulted in the famous Penrose and Hawking singularity theorems. This is considered to be the first result that kick started modern research in general relativity. We introduce the basic notions of geodesic incompleteness and closed trapped surfaces, and review the consequences of the theorems.
