Resolving Hydrogen Isotope Spectral Lines
САЖЕТАК:
The analysis of tritium retention in plasma-facing components (PFCs) in fusion devices is of utmost importance for ensuring safe and efficient operation. When performing optical emission spectroscopic
analyses of PFC content, resolving deuterium (Dα) and tritium (Tα) Balmer alpha lines presents a major challenge. Most research so far has focused on laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), but its
usefulness is limited by excessive Stark broadening due to high electron densities of LIBS plasmas. In this talk, I will discuss the use of microwave-induced plasma (MIP) as a potential solution to this problem. Material from the target is introduced into the MIP at low pressure via laser-induced desorption (LID) and laser ablation (LA). The light emitted from the MIP is collected and guided to a high-resolution spectrometer equipped with an ICCD camera. The obtained results suggest that, with this setup, the lowest detectable tritium level corresponds to a Tα line intensity of 20–50 % of the Dα line intensity.
