26. April 2022.

Great news has arrived from Israel: all the Serbian participants once again achieved excellent results at the International Physics Olympiad for high school students. This year, the fiftieth edition of this prestigious physics competition was organized in Tel Aviv, Israel, from July 7 to 15.

The Serbian Olympians won two silver and three bronze medals. The bronze medals were won by Dobrica Jovanović, Aleksandar Stanojčić and Bogdan Rajkov from the Mathematical Grammar School, Belgrade, whereas the silver medals were won by Aleksa Milojević from the Mathematical Grammar School, Belgrade, and Dimitrije Pavlov from the Vuk Karadžić Grammar School, Loznica.

The team was led by Prof. Božidar Nikolić of the Faculty of Physics, Belgrade, and Dr. Vladan Pavlović of the Faculty of Science, Niš. The same as in the previous years, the Institute of Physics, Belgrade, was involved in the preparations for the Olympiad.

This year’s success brought the total tally of Serbian medals at the International Physics Olympiads to six gold, 34 silver and 58 bronze medals and 49 honorable mentions.

Incidentally, simultaneously with the news from Israel came the news from Poland about the success of the team participating in the Young Physicists’ Tournament, who had also done their preparations at the Institute of Physics, Belgrade.
