Education
A hub of knowledge on the banks of the Danube, the Institute of Physics Belgrade is a place where students, pupils, and curious citizens can discover the magic of physics and related sciences, develop their skills, and recognize new ideas.
In addition to scientific research, education is one of the key pillars of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. To this end, the Institute’s researchers and staff invest continuous efforts in educating future scientists, developing extracurricular activities for primary and secondary school students, and promoting informal education for the general public.

Doctoral Studies
The development of young researchers and scientists is one of the main goals of the Institute of Physics in Belgrade. As part of the University of Belgrade, the Institute offers doctoral students the opportunity to work on their PhD theses under the supervision of mentors within the Institute, while also participating in national and international research projects.
Although the Institute does not award doctoral degrees itself, PhD candidates from various faculties across the country choose to conduct their research here, and many of them continue their careers at the Institute after completing their doctorates.

Student Internships
Through cooperation with partners throughout the academic community, the Institute of Physics in Belgrade provides students from various faculties with opportunities to complete their internships at the Institute. This allows students to work with researchers, participate in their first scientific projects, experience laboratory work and scientific writing, and identify the scientific fields that interest them most.
During the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years, a large number of students chose the Institute as their internship venue, with many returning in subsequent years. Each year, the Institute prepares an Internship Catalogue to help students choose among different research topics, mentors, and laboratories. Highly motivated secondary school students may also participate in internships. Applications are open throughout the academic year, and students apply directly to mentors.

Programs for Schools
Special attention is devoted to nurturing interest in science and educating future researchers through cooperation with schools. The Institute of Physics is open to pupils and teachers and offers an additional dimension to the knowledge gained in classrooms.
The Institute welcomes both large and small groups of students, enabling them to see firsthand how research is conducted, talk with researchers, ask questions, discuss ideas, and exchange experiences. Visitors include students from specialized science programs, pupils from general secondary schools, primary school students of all ages, and even preschool children.

Lifelong Learning
In addition to organized visits in cooperation with schools, universities, and educators, the Institute is also open to individual visits by interested students and citizens. Pupils and students may seek advice, infrastructure, and mentorship from Institute researchers for seminar papers, bachelor’s, and master’s theses.
Through science communication activities, the Institute organizes public lectures, discussions, and other events for the wider community.
