02. April 2024.

The Institute of Physics Belgrade and the Ilija M. Kolarac Endowment are organizing a series of lectures from April 4 to May 16, 2024 to mark the seventieth anniversary of the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN).

Lectures by researchers from Serbia who collaborate with CERN will be held on Thursdays from 6 pm in the Small Hall of the Kolarc Endowment.

The series of lectures will begin on April 4, 2024 with the lecture “70 years of the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN)” by Dr Petar Adžić from the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade. A week later, on April 11, Dr Jelena Jovićević from the Institute of Physics Belgrade will talk about the Higgs boson in a lecture entitled “A decade since the discovery of the Higgs boson: what we know today and what we don’t know about it”.

The lecture “Pioneering steps towards uncovering the secrets of neutrinos and the ProtoDUNE project at CERN” will be held on April 18 by Dr Nataša Todorović from the Department of Nuclear Physics at the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Novi Sad. Dr Predrag Milenović from the Faculty of Physics Belgrade and Dr Lidija Živković from the Institute of Physics Belgrade will speak on April 25 on the topic “The future of high energy physics at CERN”.

On Wednesday, May 9, the audience will have the opportunity to hear the lecture “Nuclear physics and fundamental interactions in the ISOLDE experiments at CERN” by Dr Jovana Nikolov from the Department of Physics of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics in Novi Sad. The cycle of lectures ends on May 16 with the lecture “Quark-gluon plasma and experiments at CERN” by Dr. Magdalena Đorđević from the Institute of Physics Belgrade.
