Dr Jelena Begović, Minister of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, hosted a reception on Wednesday, 17 July, for researchers of the Institute of Physics Belgrade who have secured one of the major individual scientific project that have reached the Republic of Serbia.
The project titled Hidden Phases in 2D Quantum Materials has won funding in the amount of €2.5 million from the European ERA Chairs Programme. The project will be realized by a group of researchers from the Centre for Solid State and New Materials of the Institute of Physics Belgrade and it includes the return of one of the world’s leading experts in solid state physics, Dr Emil Božin, from America to Serbia
’It is my great pleasure that such a young and courageous team has stepped out on the European stage and won a project in a such competitive arena,’ stated Minister Begović, adding that science was the best brand of Serbia and that ’researchers from the Institute are currently its best ambassadors.’
The reception, held at the Government of the Republic of Serbia, was attended by Dr Aleksandar Bogojević, Director of the Institute of Physics Belgrade and members of the team from the Centre for Solid State and New Materials, Dr Nenad Lazarević, Dr Bojana Višić and Dr Jelena Pešić.
Along with the Minister, State Secretary Vukašin Grozdić, Assistant Minister Dr Marina Soković and Acting Director of the Centre for the Promotion of Science Danijela Vučićević were present at the reception for researchers.
