On Thursday, 17 October, the security officers and staff of the Institute of Physics noticed an unusual sight at the Institute’s garden. A traveller put up a tent in the garden, not far from the old seminar and the banks of the Danube.
This visitor, an adventurous hiker from Paris, is currently travelling around Europe via Tirana to Helsinki. Having had experience on similar routes across Europe, he is passing through Serbia. During his stay in Belgrade, he decided to spend the night at the Institute where he set up his tent.
Our colleague, Ivan Petković, warmly welcomed the unconventional guest, sharing hot drinks and conversation to learn more about his extraordinary travels. Unaware at first that he had set up camp on a research campus, the traveller initially thought he was in a quiet grove near the capital, but he appreciated the sense of openness and curiosity, important values fostered at the Institute.
