The promotion of the book titled ‘Science and Innovations in Serbia – Knowledge as the Only Path towards the Society of Prosperity’ took place on 9 July, at the Grand Hall of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, on the eve of the Science Day in Serbia, which is marked on Nikola Tesla’s birthday.

The book authored by a group of contributors, mostly employed at the Institute of Physics Belgrade, serves as a dialogue on science and innovations addressing the academic community, shareholders, industry and citizens of the Republic of Serbia.

At the beginning of the event, the audience was greeted by Academician Zoran V. Popović, SASA vice-president, followed by Professor Dr Vladan Đokić, the rector of the University of Belgrade and Professor Dr Miroslav Trjanović, state secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovations.

Dr Saša Lazović, Dr Vladimir M. Petrović, Dušan Nikolić, Ljubica ilić Vojnović, Dr Aleksandar Bogojević, Dr Aleksandar Belić and Dr Franci Demšar discussed the book.

During a two-hour discussion moderated by Marija Đurić of the Department of Communication of the Institute of Physics Belgrade, the authors elaborated on the motives behind the book, teamwork, the role of science in a small developing country, parallels between Serbia and Slovenia, challenges in legal system reform, ties between science and industry and education, etc.
