Marija Mitrović Dankulov at a prestigious conference

26. April 2022.

At the World Minds conference, held in Belgrade on May 23, Dr. Marija Mitrović Dankulov, head of the Innovation Center of the Institute of Physics, Belgrade, was among the 18 speakers from around the world – innovators, people from the fields of industry, education, science and politics.

In her presentation of Teslagram, Dr. Mitrović Dankulov talked about the possibilities of utilizing natural resources for the improvement of global healthcare and financial security. The founder of World Minds and curator of the program, Rolph Dobelli, asked a question about the Verokio Center, and Dr. Mitrović Dankulov stressed that in order to develop an idea such as that of Teslagram it is necessary to work with creative young people continually, to which end the Institute of Physics invests a lot of effort. One such project is the education center Verokio, which, being the Serbian Government’s priority project, will be built at the Institute of Physics, Belgrade.

For 12 years, the World Minds event was organized solely in Switzerland, but after a multitude of gatherings, 150 speakers from all over the world and more than 3,000 ideas, the conference arrived in Serbia following an invitation of the Serbian Government. As Prime Minister Ana Brnabić said, this was an opportunity to present Serbia in the true light, as a country that invests in research, development and innovation. At the same time, World Minds provided Serbian scientists, innovators and talents with an opportunity to promote their work and create stronger links with their peers throughout the world, the Prime Minister said.

The conference participants were also addressed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. One of the speakers was the Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry Kurt Wüthrich, who talked about his life quest for scientific discoveries. The renowned speaker at TED conferences, Tom Wujec, spoke about his ideas related to the future of design. There were many other speakers, mostly young innovators, who presented unique, impressive and sometimes amazing ideas.

Along with Dr. Mitrović Dankulov, innovative ideas from Serbia were also presented by Dr. Vesna Bengin of the BioSens Institute and Milica Mastilović from the 3Lateral company.
