Meeting of directors of institutes involved in the SAIGE project

An ordinary meeting of directors of six institutes participating in the Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship Project (SAIGE) took place at the Institute of Physics, Belgrade, in the ’Dr Dragan Popović’ reading room, on Tuesday, 14 June 2022.

The meeting was attended by the state secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development in charge of science, Professor Dr Marijana Dukić Mijatović, Dr Marina Soković, assistant minister for science and Dr Aleksandar Jović, assistant minister for international cooperation and European integration. Professor Dr Viktor Nedović, with his team from the PIU, which coordinates the cooperation with the World Bank on the SAIGE project, also attended the meeting.

Two strategical consultants of the World Bank, Dr Aleksandar Belić and Professor Dr Vladimir Popović, were also present at the meeting held at the Institute of Physics.

The directors and their deputies represented the participating institutes and they are as follows: Dr Aleksandar Bogojević, (director of the Institute of Physics, Belgrade), Dr Jelena Begović (director of the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering), Dr Marija Gnjatović, (director of the Institute for the Application of Nuclear Energy INEP), Dr Dragan Kovačević (director of the Nikola Tesla Institute of Electrical Engineering), Professor Dr Jegor Miladinović, (director of the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops) and Professor Dr Branislav Đorđević (director of the Institute for International Politics and Economics).

In a friendly atmosphere, the directors exchanged experiences acquired during the first months of the project realization, shedding light on some of the challenges and discussing the ways of overcoming them.

Serbia Accelerating Innovation and Growth Entrepreneurship Project (SAIGE) is funded through a partnership of the Republic of Serbia, the World Bank and the European Union for the purpose of providing additional investment into science, technological development, innovations and innovative entrepreneurship. The project aims to improve the relevance and excellence of scientific research and expand the capacity of scientific research organizations.
