IPB

26. April 2022.

Dr. Jelena Jovicević (TRIUMF, Canada) was  our guest at IPB colloquium  on Friday, 22 December 2017.

The talk was entitled: First evidence for the coupling of the Higgs boson to top quark“Abstract of the talk:

After the discovery of the Higgs boson, the last missing piece in the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics, the main focus of the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, was the measurement of its properties and search for signals of physics phenomena beyond the SM. One of the most interesting properties of the Higgs boson is its Yukawa coupling to the top quark, as it is the largest Yukawa coupling in the theory and any deviation from the SM prediction can indicate the existence of new physics phenomena. This coupling can be directly probed through the associated production of the Higgs boson together with the top quark-antiquark pair. The latest measurement of this process using 36.1 fb-1 of data from the proton-proton collisions at centre of mass energy of 13 TeV will be presented in this talk. The analysis exploits several Higgs boson decays, along with the different top quark decay modes. These results provide the first experimental evidence for the production process of the Higgs boson together with the top quark-antiquark pair.
