Our dear colleague, Dr Najdan Aleksić, a retired principal research fellow of the Institute passed away on Tuesday, 25 April 2024.

Najdan was born in 1954 in Stanjic in Mt Stara Planina. He completed the Pirot Gymnasium and after that, he graduated from the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Belgrade where he also obtained his MSc and PhD.

He spent his entire scientific career at the Institute of Physics Belgrade from 1979 until his retirement in 2020. He produced very noteworthy results in his theoretical physics research primarily in the field of non-linear dynamics and optics. He fostered fruitful collaboration with numerous researchers in Serbia and abroad. The results of his work which was notably cited were published in more than 90 publications, principally in renowned journals. He also published several chapters in books and monographs.

On doctoral studies at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Belgrade, he was a lecturer of several courses, mainly in the field of plasma and numerical simulations.

The funeral will take place on Saturday, 27 April 2024 at 2 p.m. in Vrežina cemetery in Niš. The funeral service is organized at the Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God near the cemetery.
