Tijana Milićević receives fellowship ‘For Women in Science’

Dr Tijana Milićević, a research associate at the Environmental Physics Laboratory of the Institute of Physics Belgrade (IPB), was announced to be one of three laureates of the national fellowship titled ‘For Women in Science’ for the year 2022, at a ceremony held in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, on 28 December 2022.

Dr Tijana Milićević won the award for her work in the field of investigation of toxic and cancerogenic elements and compounds in environmental and food samples, with a particular focus on the agricultural environment.

The fellowship ‘For Women in Science’ is part of an international initiative launched by L’Oréal and UNESCO, with the programme having been initiated in Serbia in 2010. The fellowships are granted to female scientists up to 35 years of age on doctoral or post-doctoral studies in natural sciences.

Each year, three fellowships ‘For Women in Science’ are awarded, so, in addition to Dr Tijana Milićević, Dr Jovana Despotović, a research associate at the Institute of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering, and Dr Alena Stupar, a research associate at the Institute of Food Technology in Novi Sad, were awarded. The fellowships amount to 5,000 EUR which are to be used in research.
