The Institute of Physics Belgrade organised an Open Day for students on Monday, 15 December. A great number of students from various faculties attended the event, with most of them expressing interest in having their internships at the Institute.

The get-together began at the Dr Dragan Popović Library, where the guests were greeted by the Institute’s director, Dr Aleksandar Bogojević. He spoke about the Institute’s organisational structure, opportunities for continuing education and prospects for career advancement in this institution.

Following the introduction, the students and researchers went on a tour of the laboratories according to their interests. They were introduced to the fields of physics and related sciences studied at the institute, and based on that, the students chose which topic they would like to learn more about.

Speaking with researchers and getting acquainted with the equipment and laboratory work was, for many of the visitors, the first opportunity to see what scientific work really looks like. As a result, many students will choose the research areas and laboratories that attracted them the most for their internship placements.
