One of the world’s leading physicists, Dr Emil Božin, has returned to Serbia from the United States to the Institute of Physics Belgrade. His return was made possible through the ERA Chair programme of the European Commission, and the media got the opportunity to meet him on Wednesday, 20 November 2024.
This event was extensively covered by a number of domestic media.
Politika Daily reported that Dr Božin would lead the €2.5 million ERA Chair project Hidden Phases in 2D Quantum Materials. ‘This project is so interesting that I do not see this return as a career setback but as a step forward,’ says Dr Božin.
Radio-Television of Serbia broadcast a report on Dr Božin’s return mentioning the Institute of Physics Belgrade’s efforts to encourage the return of other researchers from abroad.
Radio-Television Vojvodina also broadcast a report on Dr Emil Božin, which captured some of the atmosphere from the event held at the Institute.
The EUpravo zato portal featured Dr Božin’s introduction, citing Minister of Science, Technological Development, and Innovations Dr Jelena Begović, who emphasized that the project results would not only focus on scientific findings.
Tanjug said that Minister Dr Begović underscored that ERA Chairs was an extremely competitive instrument of the Horizon Europe program and that the success of the Institute of Physics in Horizon EU calls was evidence that the domestic scientific community could compete with the best researchers from Europe.
