Seminar on Dual Use Goods

Dr Aleksandar Bogojević, director of the Institute of Physics, participated in the seminar for the economy and scientific institutions which focused on the trade of dual-use items. The event, which brought together representatives of various institutions in Serbia, was organized by the Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Belgrade.

Speakers included Stevan Nikčević, State Secretary at the Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade, as well as a representative from the European Union delegation in Serbia. Experts from the Faculty of Chemistry, the Vlatakom Institute, and Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute also shared their experiences with dual-use goods. The seminar was moderated by Jasmina Roskić from the Ministry of Domestic and Foreign Trade.

Following the lecture which featured the Institute of Physics’ experience and numerous projections on dual-use goods, Dr Bogojević stated ‘The concepts of centre and periphery are no longer relevant nowadays, stressing how it is time to change the ways of thinking.

Dual-use goods are products, including software and technology, which are designed for both civilian and military purposes.
