Presentation of the Institute’s Innovation Incubator

01. March 2024.

The presentation of the Innovation Incubator of the Institute of Physics Belgrade was held on Thursday, February 29, 2024.

The Incubator is a project implemented by the Institute and funded within the Formation and Development of Innovation Incubators in Scientific and Research Organizations Program of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation.

At the event dedicated to the start of the Incubator’s activities, a large number of students and researchers, as well as representatives of faculties and institutes, gathered in the “Dr. Dragan Popović” library.

“The innovation incubator aims to extend the achieved results to other institutions with which we plan to strengthen ties”, said Dr. Aleksandar Bogojević, the Institute’s Director, who greeted the attendees and spoke about the Institute activities and the steps taken to support innovation since the creation of the Innovation Center until today.

Prof. Dr. Ivan Belča, Dean of the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade, emphasized that the ties between this faculty and the Institute have always been strong. “A large number of our students come to the Institute for internships, and they will be able to see how an idea is implemented and commercialized in the incubator,” said prof. Dr. Belča.

Prof. Dr. Milica Pavkov Hrvojević, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics of the University of Novi Sad, said that the innovation incubator will be of great benefit to both students and heads of institutions.

Dr. Saša Lazović, the Institute of Physics’ deputy director, spoke about innovations and their importance for scientific institutes from his experience. “Innovation occurs in the laboratory, but after that, different support mechanisms are needed. The goal for every scientific and research organization is to offer this type of support,” said Dr. Lazović, emphasizing that the Institute, in addition to good research conditions, enables researchers to develop the innovative component of their work.

Dragana Perović, Project Manager, introduced the attendees of the Innovation Incubator and the ideas behind it to the details.

In the second part of the program, Institute researchers Dr. Dejan Đokić, Dr. Jasmina Lazarevic and Iva Rosić presented their projects that were selected as part of the internal “Proof of Concept” competition, and Dušan Nikolić presented the innovation project Xalis. After that, the students had the opportunity to visit the Institutes’ Centers of Outstanding Values.
