Anniversary of the Faculty of Sciences in Novi Sad

On the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the foundation of the Faculty of Sciences (PMF) of the University of Novi Sad, the Institute of Physics Belgrade received a plaque award for long-standing support and successful cooperation. As one of the largest and most successful faculties in the Republic of Serbia, the PMF in Novi Sad is a strategic partner of the Institute having had close cooperation in the spheres of science, education and innovations.

The PMF organized a celebratory gathering on Friday, 31 May,  to commemorate the anniversary in a spacious grand hall of the University of Novi Sad Rectorate. During this occasion, which featured the performance of musicians from Novi Sad and the Pop Radio choir, notable students, distinguished professors and highly cited researchers were honoured, while partner institutions and businessmen received plaque awards.

Dr Milica Pavkov Hrvojević, PMF dean, remarked in her address ‘In times when knowledge is diminishing in importance, our educators, alongside students, try to safeguard scientific knowledge and uphold academic principles, critical spirit and civil courage.’

The PMF was founded in 1969, and according to their statistics, more than 15.000 students have graduated from it. As one of the most attended faculties in Serbia, it has fostered a multidisciplinary character ever since its beginning, and as it is frequently said at the PMF, it is constantly open to change, modernization and establishing ties with partners, with the Institute of Physics being one of them as a national institute of the Republic of Serbia.

The Director of the Institute Dr Aleksandar Bogojević, his deputies Dr Antun Balaž and Dr Saša Lozović attended the festive event, as well as Dr Aleksandar Belić, Ljubica Ilić Vojnović, Bojana Cekić and Slobodan Bubnjević.
