There are still young researchers here who face certain barriers, be that in themselves or in the system they are part of. Therefore, the combination of someone coming from abroad and those who work here and are eager to do research, facilitates the creation of something truly valuable, says Dr Emil Božin, whose return to Serbia from the USA was made possible through the prestigious ERA Chair programme of the European Commission, awarded to the Centre for the Solid State and New Materials.
In the episode titled ‘The Emergence of Hidden Phases’, Dr Božin discusses this project, as well as the use of large-scale facilities and the very term of hidden phases. ‘These hidden phases are among us, without us being aware of them, and they are somehow connected to properties we seek to understand,’ elaborates Dr Božin.
The series ‘The Garden of Physics’ was launched by the Institute of Physics Belgrade, inspired by the concept of popular IPB forums, which had brought together a large audience at the big hall of the Students’ Cultural Centre. Realised in cooperation with the portal ’Science Through Stories’, each episode of ’The Garden of Physics’ is dedicated to one of the fundamental topics of modern science.
