Second- and fourth-grade students from Belgrade’s Mihajlo Pupin private primary school visited the Institute of Physics Belgrade on 2 October to meet physicists and biologists, learn about their work, and explore some of the Institute’s laboratories.
The guests toured the Laboratory for Experimental Astrobiology, where they had the chance to hear about ‘ET creation’, watch how microbes are grown and take samples by themselves. After that, they visited the Laboratory for Computer Application in Science, where they discovered the existence of supercomputers and the reason why the Institute’s supercomputer Paradox has no monitor. The second part of the visit featured small experiments conducted by Dr Dejan Đokić, who used Coca-Cola and Fanta to demonstrate the states of matter and torque.
On departing, some of them stated that they wanted to become physicists when they grew up.
