The Institute’s Researchers Win Three Projects Within the Diaspora Programme

The Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia has announced the list of 45 approved projects to be funded within the Serbian Scientific Cooperation Program with the Diaspora: Support for Visits of Diaspora Scientists.

Among the selected projects are three projects whose leaders are the researchers of the Institute of Physics Belgrade. Per the number of points won, the Institute’s projects rank among the top six.

Within this programme, the funded projects include: 2D Material Field-Effect Transistor-based PhotoDetectors, led by Dr Zorica Konstantinović, which will foster cooperation with researchers from the University of Chile, Development of GaN Nanowire-Based Quantum Light Emitters, headed by Dr Nenad Vukmirović, in collaboration with the Technical University of Madrid; and Nano/Micro/Macro-Structuring of Graphene-based Clay Materials for Sustainable Buildings and Storage Applications, run by Dr Tijana Tomašević Ilić, a project developed in cooperation with the Faculty of Applied Arts, University of Arts in Belgrade, and researchers from the University of Technology in Graz.

In addition to these projects, researchers at the Institute of Physics Belgrade will take part in the project Aerosols of copper-silver based nanomaterials for absorbers in solar cells headed by Dr Radovan Dojčilović from the Vinča Nuclear Research Institute.

According to the Science Fund, the programme aims to promote scientific collaboration with the diaspora by supporting the establishment or enhancement of scientific cooperation facilitating the exchange of knowledge, and enabling joint work in addressing scientific and R&D challenges.

The public call received 91 proposals, with 45 projects being approved with a total budget of 800,000 euros. The funds are provided by the World Bank through the Project for Acceleration of Innovation and Stimulation of Entrepreneurship Growth in the Republic of Serbia (Project SAIGE), a partnership project of the Republic of Serbia, the European Union and the World Bank.
