World Exprets at the Conference on Biomonitoring of Environmental Pollution in Belgrade

The International Conference of the International Association for Biomonitoring of Environmental Pollution (IABEP) was held in the period between 13 and 15 October at the Palace Hotel. The local organiser of this event was the Institute of Physics Belgrade, with its partners the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade and the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade.

This is the third conference of the International Association for Biomonitoring of Environmental Pollution, and after Trieste and Lisbon, Belgrade proved itself a good host to experts in various fields addressing environmental pollution.

The event opened on Monday, 13 October. The opening ceremony featured addresses by the Institute’s director, Dr Aleksandar Bogojević, dean of the Faculty of Biology, Dr Ljubiša Stanisavljević and vice-dean for science at the Faculty of Chemistry, Dr Dragana Milić.

Some of the topics discussed by this year’s participants include new biomonitoring techniques and methodologies, emerging pollutants and their impact on ecosystems, advances in bioindicators and biomarkers for pollution monitoring, and integration of biomonitoring data into risk assessment and decision-making processes.
