As the new academic year approaches, the Institute of Physics Belgrade, a national institute of the Republic of Serbia, has released a call to all students from all universities in the region to undertake an internship in the 2025/2026 academic year at the Institute. This year, through cooperation with partners across the academic community, the Institute is launching a new, enhanced and more accessible programme of work with students interested in physics and related sciences.

During the internship at the Institute, students will get an opportunity to work alongside professional researchers and develop their first research projects using state-of-the-art equipment.

To make the programme more accessible and simpler, the student internship team of the Institute of Physics has prepared a Catalogue of Student Internships for 2025//2026. The catalogue features brief descriptions of the research topics and projects, internship courses, attendance requirements and short biographies of mentors.

The listed internships are primarily targeted at students, but advanced high school students with a strong interest in research work are also encouraged to apply.

The research topics are mostly related to broader physics and related technologies, as well as interdisciplinary topics combining physics with other sciences and creative disciplines. Particular focus is placed on the communication and promotion of science and its effect on society.

Students’ applications are available throughout the academic year. Students can directly contact mentors whose contacts are provided in the publication, while all inquiries can be addressed to ipbstudentskeprakse@ipb.ac.rs.

Institutions interested in receiving a printed version of the catalogue can request one.

Last year’s internship catalogue motivated more than 120 students from diverse backgrounds and locations to undertake internships at the Institute, demonstrating a growing interest among young people in research activities at the Institute. In addition, around ten early-career researchers from abroad successfully participated in and completed the internship programme.
